Public urination question?

i was given a summons for public urination in nyc where i live i went to the courthouse to tell them that i couldn't get the money up in time so the gave me a date to come back but by then i still couldn't pay the fine so instead of going back to the courthouse i waited for a whole year by time i had the cash and i finally paid off the fine,other than this i have a clean record as i have never been in any kind of trouble with the law, what i want to know is do i have a criminal record now and would this affect me in a background check,i need to know for peace of mind thank you very much
